Welcome

So, I’ve been playing music since about first grade, and I’d say professionally, since I was about 19. Professional is defined as, “engaged in a specified activity as one’s main paid occupation rather than as a pastime,” and after graduating from MI, I remember I would only allow myself to get jobs that had to do with music so I could proudly define myself as a professional musician. Whether it was teaching at a neighborhood music school, or playing every Sunday at church, or giving private lessons, as long as it had to do with music, I was there. Yet after all these years in the music industry, I’ve never had a website to call my own.

There have always been alternatives to having one. First I connected with people using Myspace, then through Craigslist, then Facebook came along, and the last one I really got into was Instagram. And I know what you’re thinking, “Then why now, Jasmin?” Well…

Even though I’ve been in the scene for many years now, I feel like I’m, once again, starting over. You see I was on the road full-time for about 6 1/2 years, and because of this, I started disconnecting with the Los Angeles music scene. Although every time I was home, I would catch a show, or meet up with fellow musician friends, I was still primarily a ghost in Los Angeles. (cue Desaparecido by Manu Chau) And when people are calling you for gigs and your answers tend to be, “Aw sorry man, I wish I could, but I’m in Florida right now,” or, “Dude, I totally would have loved to, but I don’t get home till next month,” the phone eventually stops ringing. (fun fact, i did actually just put on Desaparecido just now to get in the mood of writing this post but it was too distracting and I had to shut it off 😂).

Everyone just starts assuming you are always out of town. So now that I’m off the road and back home, it feels like I have to re-establish myself as an active member of my Los Angeles music community, and also show everyone what I’ve been up to these past few years! And what better way to do that than having a space that I can direct everyone to, and with just one click, they have access to all my favorite videos, photos, audio tracks and much more!

So here I am close to the end of 2022, and right around the corner from 2023, creating my first website, and to be quite honest, it’s been pretty fun! Plus, I also get to start my first Blog!! I have so many things I’m excited to talk to you guys about. I feel like the possibilities are endless. I hope you have as much fun exploring this site, as I have had making it, and please leave a comment below if you feel so inclined. Thanks for reading and talk to you soon!! 💕
